The Buffalo Bills have several new players on the roster this week. Terrelle Pryor is the most notable new guy and can bring some fresh energy to this team.
Buffalo Bills fans have not witnessed greatness at the wide receiver position this season.
The team has a total of three touchdown receptions through eight games, while Zay Jones leads the team in receptions (25) and receiving yards (281). He is also tied for first with one touchdown catch.
The quarterback situation has not helped the receivers but it is still clear that this team lacks a dynamic playmaker on the outside.
That may be why Brandon Beane decided to take a chance on Terrelle Pryor. The receiver signed with the Bills earlier this week and is already feeling confident with his new team.
A fresh voice in the receiving corps could be a great thing for the entire offense. Pryor is not a No. 1 guy, but he has experience that a lot of guys on this Bills team lack. Being a former quarterback only helps his leadership qualities at 29 years old.
Pryor has no connection to the current 2-6 record and can show up with some positive energy to help motivate his new teammates. He also has no history with Nathan Peterman, so he will show up looking to encourage his new quarterback instead of dreading what will go wrong.
Signing Pryor was a great low-risk, potential high-reward move by Brandon Beane. If he struggles, the team can simply let him walk in the offseason. But if he helps spark the offense over the final eight weeks, he can be a player who sticks around and becomes a reliable target for Josh Allen for years to come.
No matter what he does, it can’t be much worse than what Bills fans have seen so far this season.
