Tremaine Edmunds starts all 16 games
Bills fans are sure hoping this happens.
The main draft pick in focus this year is Josh Allen. That will always be the case when a quarterback is drafted as high as he was. But there is a lot riding on Tremaine Edmunds as well.
The rookie was drafted to be the captain on defense and hopefully maintain that role for years to come.
When it comes to first-round picks, the Bills have taken five defensive players since 2011. Marcell Dareus was the first, followed by Stephon Gilmore. As we know, neither are still in Buffalo.
Next is Shaq Lawson, who was originally fighting for a job but seems to have done enough to earn another year with the team. Trent Murphy‘s situation helps his cause a bit.
After that is Tre’Davious White and Edmunds, who both factor in as key pieces in 2018 and hopefully beyond.
Edmunds starting every game should be his baseline for what would be considered a successful rookie season. Because if he is out there every week, it means he is doing enough to keep his starting job.
He has the physical tools to be successful. What remains to be seen is how he responds to an NFL offense that gameplans for him. If he is able to start all 16 games not simply by default, it should signal a bright future for the young linebacker.
