News broke Monday that Buffalo Bills quarterback AJ McCarron isn’t as injured as we previously thought. That and more in today’s Morning Charge.

Monday was a busy day for Buffalo Bills quarterback news.

First it was announced that Josh Allen was set to start the team’s third preseason game this Sunday against the Bengals. Then came the news that AJ McCarron did not in fact suffer a fractured collarbone. He is expected back soon.

The McCarron news could provide more drama if he was lighting it up this preseason, but it still looks like a two-way competition between Allen and Nathan Peterman for the starting job.

Allen getting the start only improves his chances of starting and Peterman has looked solid in his first two games as well. The same cannot be said for McCarron, who is now also dealing with a sore shoulder.

The good news for McCarron is that he doesn’t risk missing an entire year of football due to injury. I’m just not sure if he will get on the field for the Bills with the way Allen and Peterman are playing.

We look at that and more in today’s Morning Charge.

Allen starting this game makes sense considering Sean McDermott has made it clear he is going through a rotation this preseason. But it is still notable that Allen’s start comes in the all-important third preseason game.

McCarron is back in the competition, although it may be too late for him. At least he doesn’t have to deal with an extremely painful collarbone injury.
