The Buffalo Bills lost a quarterback to injury Friday night but it wasn’t enough to lead to much movement in NFL Spin Zone’s latest power rankings.

AJ McCarron started Friday’s game and it appeared he was receiving his fair shot to be the starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. It didn’t go so well.

McCarron had an awful outing, although to be fair the blocking wasn’t exactly good in any sense of the word. He capped it off by fracturing his collarbone, effectively taking him out of the starting conversation.

This injury could doom the team if McCarron was expected to be the starter, but it seemed like he was already trending toward being the odd man out. That would have been true after Friday’s game even if he wasn’t injured.

NFL Spin Zone released new power rankings today and the Bills only dropped one spot to No. 24 overall. This is around where the team has been all offseason and it is where the team will remain until we see how Nathan Peterman or Josh Allen does as the starter.

It appears as if the competition will continue into the third preseason game. The Bills will also likely add another quarterback to take some reps later in the game when the third-team offense is out there. This isn’t a glorious job but it is a nice way to get some tape for a quarterback needing an opportunity.

Power rankings don’t mean much and Bills fans already know it will be another season where no one outside of Buffalo believes in the team. That doesn’t seem to bother anyone since it’s the norm.

What do you think about these power rankings? Should the Bills be higher even with the questions at quarterback?
