Brandon Beane isn’t afraid to make some big preseason trades and one current Buffalo Bills player stands out as someone who could be traded this preseason.
Brandon Beane wasted no time last year in assembling the Buffalo Bills in his vision.
Beane shocked fans by trading both Sammy Watkins and Ronald Darby away at the start of the preseason. The player returns in those trades weren’t spectacular (Jordan Matthews and E.J. Gaines) but some high draft picks were acquired.
Back to the present and Beane has already made a trade to bring in Corey Coleman this preseason. As for other players who could be sent to new teams, ESPN.com recently went through some NFL teams to find those players who may be going elsewhere before the regular season begins. Shaq Lawson showed up as the player for the Buffalo Bills.
Lawson’s name has been attached to trade rumors all offseason as he just hasn’t had a great start to his career in Buffalo. He showed up behind Trent Murphy on the team’s first unofficial depth chart of the season and as long as Murphy can stay healthy, Lawson’s playing time will diminish.
The former first-round pick has value on the trade market as there have to be at least a few teams willing to look past his early struggles in the hopes that a new system and coaching staff will suit him well. He is only 24 years old and just like the Bills were willing to take a chance on Coleman, another team may want that same chance with Lawson.
However, Lawson may not be sent away for something as low as a seventh-round pick.
The young defender has only appeared in 21 games for the Bills so it is possible the team gives him one final shot to prove what he can do when healthy for a full season. But his value will only go down if he has a bad start to the year, so his trade value may be at its highest point right now.
And we all know that Beane isn’t afraid to trade anyone, regardless of where they were drafted.
