2. Tre’Davious White

In the 2017 draft, the Buffalo Bills traded back with the Kansas City Chiefs to No. 27 overall and selected Tre’Davious White out of LSU. White was the fifth and final cornerback taken in the first round.

Tre’Davious had arguably the best season of all of them although Marshon Lattimore beat him out for Defensive Rookie of the Year. In 2017, according to Pro Football Focus, White allowed the third-lowest catch percentage since 2006. That’s pretty impressive for a rookie who was thrust into the top cornerback role on what was supposed to be one of the weaker secondaries in the NFL.

He made a few mistakes early in the year but his performance improved as the season rolled along. He came up big on a number of important plays including a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, four interceptions returned for 86 total yards, 18 passes defended and a return touchdown to boot. His 18 passes defended were tied for sixth-most in the league.

In his second year, if White is able to improve upon his rookie campaign, the sky is the limit as to what he can do on the field. Last year, he proved he could cover some of the top players in the league including Rob Gronkowski, Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Mike Evans and more. He is one of the main reasons why the Bills secondary went from one of their biggest question marks to one of their biggest strengths last year.

In his second year with the team, you can expect continued progress from the mature young man and he should have an even better season than the previous one. That is why Tre’Davious White should be the Buffalo Bills second-best player in 2018.
