Buffalo Bills: 5 new additions who will make an immediate impact
Now we get to the front of the defense. The team added Davis on the outside and Edmunds in the middle, but a major signing this offseason was to bring in Star Lotulelei up front.
The lineman signed a big $50 million deal this offseason to join Kyle Williams up front. Lotulelei has appeared in 76 games in five years with the Panthers and has 11.5 career sacks.
The 6-foot-2, 315-pound defensive tackle joins the team with a fresh start after a solid start to his career in Carolina. Beane signed him to a five-year deal, essentially giving Lotulelei a chance to become a mainstay in Buffalo. With Williams likely retiring after the season, the former first-round pick by the Panthers can anchor the line for years to come.
His tackle and sack numbers don’t jump out on paper, but his purpose is to disrupt the interior of the offensive line. If he can do that and pressure the quarterback, he will be doing a great job for the Bills. The quarterback already has to deal with this great secondary, so being forced to rush could lead to a lot of takeaways in 2018.
