Robert Foster, Rookie

(6-foot-2, 196 pounds)

Contract: 3 year – $1.7 Million (Not guaranteed)

Career Notes:

Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2018 out of Alabama.

Was a 5-star recruit when he committed to play for the Crimson Tide.

Career Stats- 35 Receptions, 389 Receiving Yards, 3 TDs.

Analysis:

You’d be a fool to believe that Foster was effective during his time in college. His athletic ability is far greater than his production. He showed this at the NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.41 forty-yard dash, which is a great time for a player of his size.

When a player is signed as an undrafted free agent, they are seen as a practice body. I believe Foster will outshine that projection early in his career. The key to his success will be how the team uses him on the outside. He will be reunited with his collegiate OC Brian Daboll, so his learning curve may not be as steep.

As I stated earlier, the Bills need to find a guy that can get some separation and Foster has the speed to do that. He has already gotten reps at minicamp with the starters and that is not a fluke. He may not start from day one, but he would be a great complementary piece to groom as Benjamin’s eventual replacement.
