1992

We start our look at the four Super Bowl appearances with the worst one of them all.

The Cowboys defeated the Bills by the score of 52-17 in Super Bowl XXVII in what was the third straight Super Bowl for Buffalo.

The Bills actually took a 7-0 lead to start the game, but were outscored 52-10 the rest of the way. Jim Kelly was knocked from the game early, leaving playoff legend Frank Reich to come in and try to rally the troops.

Another magical comeback was not in the cards as the Cowboys finished the game with a 21-0 fourth quarter to win the game.

The entire season was not a failure as the Bills worked past two Super Bowl defeats to make it back to the game once again. And as mentioned, Reich orchestrated one of the most memorable comebacks in NFL history against the Oilers in the Wild Card round. That is something that can never be taken from Bills fans.

The Bills didn’t even win the division in 1992 but picked up three wins in a single postseason for the first and only time in franchise history. Considering the injuries to Kelly and the fact the Bills were fresh off two Super Bowl losses, this season showed just how hard the team was fighting to win it all.

Unfortunately, that Cowboys team was stacked.
