Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly continues to fight cancer and will be rewarded for his perseverance at the 2018 ESPYs in July.

Buffalo Bills fans are still waiting for that next superstar quarterback to lead the team to greatness. Even when the individual is found, Jim Kelly will always remain a legend in Buffalo.

Kelly has always represented Buffalo with grace and pride. It is why fans continue to love and support him as he continues his fight against cancer. His past dominance on the field doesn’t hurt either.

Kelly had surgery back in March to remove oral cancer, but was on the golf course today for a charity event. That is when he made an amazing announcement.

This news came before ESPN made any official announcement, causing some to wonder if Kelly was only being considered for the award. ESPN cleared things up earlier this afternoon.

This tweet also got the date right, as the event takes place Wednesday, July 18. That is thanks to a late MLB All-Star break this year.

Kelly has continued to be positive throughout his brutal fight with cancer and every time he speaks or posts on social media, it is nothing but good vibes and extreme positivity.

That is almost impossible to believe based on what he has gone through, but it is why Kelly is such a special human being.

An ESPN.com article by Bills writer Mike Rodak shed some light on the fight Kelly still faces this summer:

"Kelly will undergo a follow-up surgery June 21 and said Monday he will not be able to eat solid foods until September. Kelly is expected to be screened again for cancer three months after his March 29 surgery."

Hopefully Kelly is able to make it to the event. Knowing him, he will be there even if he isn’t feeling all that great. It’s just how he is and is exactly why he is receiving this honor in the first place.
