Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane is about to go through his first draft with the team, and this 2018 class may determine his value as a decision maker.

Talk about a big week for the Buffalo Bills and Brandon Beane.

The young general manager is preparing for his first NFL Draft after taking over the Bills right after Doug Whaley went through the entire 2017 draft before being fired right after.

Beane is in the midst of a pseudo-rebuild, as he is already working with a team fresh off a playoff berth. His goal now is to keep the team at the level, as opposed to other rebuilds where a team is forced to bottom out to start the process.

He has said and done all the right things so far, but fans will have much stronger opinions one week from today on where he ranks among all NFL GMs.

NFL.com recently ran a piece ranking all the NFL GMs, but Beane was held out of the rankings due to being so new. The rankings began with Bill Belichick at No. 1 and ended with Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace at No. 26, as others joined Beane in not being ranked.

A great draft from Beane and a season in which the Bills reach the playoffs once again could have the rest of the NFL taking notice of what the new GM has done in Buffalo. He would be credited with turning around the franchise after several decades of futility and would be a hero in Buffalo.

That likely depends on who he chooses to take over at quarterback. The right choice would also lead to the arrival of an even bigger hero in Buffalo.
