Buffalo Bills fans are already excited about the 2018 schedule, but things will get much more interesting after the conclusion of the 2018 NFL Draft.

The 2018 NFL schedule was released a few days ago and it gave Buffalo Bills fans a chance to get some actual football back on the mind in the midst of all the draft talk.

Bills fans learned that the home opener comes in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers, while perhaps the biggest game of the year comes in Week 8 when the Bills will host the New England Patriots on a Monday night.

That Patriots game stands out as one to look forward to, but maybe not so much if Nathan Peterman or AJ McCarron lines up under center.

The slate of games for the upcoming season will get much more exciting for fans if the team makes a splash in the draft. Specifically, if the team takes one of the top quarterbacks available and it becomes clear that individual will be the one on the field against the Patriots and all the other teams on the schedule.

It almost seems to make more sense to release the schedule after the draft, but scheduling is such a difficult process at times it cannot be held off for too long. Still, the Bills only have one game not at 1:00 pm on a Sunday, and could end up being another contender with a new quarterback at the helm.

I can assure you that if the Bills take one of the top quarterbacks available, jerseys will be bought and fans will start making plans to see the new hope under center. Bills fans are so loyal that the games will be packed regardless, but there will be a much different level of excitement and energy if the supposed savior is brought in.

The whole point of the draft is to let teams improve and not have to rely on the draft as a way to save the franchise for many years to come. That is also why it is important for the Bills to pull the trigger on a top quarterback this year, and not be hesitant by waiting and taking whoever is still available when it comes time to pick.

Doing that may not change much when it comes to fans being excited for the season. Another Peterman situation isn’t exactly great for hype.
