Buffalo Bills: Five QB options via trade for 2018
No. 1 – Alex Smith
I would say that Foles is a solid B-option on this list and that this guy right here is the solid A-option. Of the five guys on this list, Alex Smith is the one that I would support the Bills trading for right now. The others I would take a wait-and-see approach on. Let’s wait and see how free agency and the draft shake out and then let’s go from there.
But, with Smith, I think Bills’ fans should be all-in right now if that’s the direction that the franchise wanted to go in.
First and foremost, Alex Smith was the better QB in San Francisco and he got the raw end of the deal before he left there. In Kansas City, Smith has been consistent and level while leading the Chiefs. Smith is coming off of one of his best seasons in the NFL, passing for 26 touchdowns (a career-high) and only five interceptions (tied for a career-low in 15 starts). Moreover, Smith simply doesn’t turn the ball over. The last time that Smith threw more than eight interceptions in a season was in 2010. Smith is a legitimate starter in the NFL and he would instantly elevate the Bills in 2018 if they were to acquire him.

The addition of Smith would give Buffalo their most talented QB in quite some time. It would also elevate the rest of the offense and give new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll plenty of options as the Bills would look to make the playoffs for back-to-back seasons.
