The 2018 Pro Bowl rosters were announced. The Pittsburgh Steelers lead with eight Pro Bowl nods; the Buffalo Bills have three.
The three Bills’ players who earned a spot on the roster are running back LeSean McCoy, offensive guard Richie Incognito, and strong safety Micah Hyde.
The biggest surprise of all includes the absence of Buffalo Bills’ cornerback, Tre’Davious White. Pro Football Focus has the rookie as their 3rd highest graded cornerback in the NFL with a season grade of 91.9. The 90.0+ grade gives him an “Elite” status, one that not many players earn.
White has three interceptions in the last four games; with those picks all coming from teams in the playoff hunt.
Here is the list of AFC cornerbacks that were given the Pro Bowl nod:
- A.J. Bouye, Jaguars
- Jalen Ramsey, Jaguars
- Aqib Talib, Broncos
- Casey Hayward, Chargers
Three of the four CBs absolutely deserve to be there. The two Jacksonville corners have been playing at a top tier level, and the Los Angeles Chargers’ Hayward is making a run at Defensive Player of the Year; an award that he could very likely get.
Something to note is that all four players on that list of stud pass-rushers to compliment them. Buffalo has Lorenzo Alexander and Shaq Lawson, but those players posses little talent compared to the premier pass-rushers the other top corners have.
Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue have been torturing opposing quarterbacks all year. Chargers’ Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram have done the same. Yes, Aqib Talib has Von Miller helping him out, but Tre’Davious White is performing with little help from a pass-rush.
Tre’Davious White deserves to be on this list instead of Aqib Talib, but sometimes the name on the front of the jersey, and what you’ve done in years past carries more weight than actual performance.
Tre’Davious white will be a force for years to come, and if not this year, then the next.
