Pro Football Focus has released their player grades and game analysis after the Buffalo Bills beat the New York Jets 21-12.

Pro Football Focus does a great job deciphering which Buffalo Bills’ players played well in their game since you can not watch every player on every play. Pro Football Focus does a good job of figuring that out with their individual player grades for every game.

The top grade Buffalo Bills player? Safety, Jordan Poyer. The defensive leader received a 90.7 game grade for his play Sunday against the New York Jets.

Here is Pro Football Focus‘ write-up for Jordan Poyer:

"“Poyer had an active day in coverage, coming away with an interception and a pass breakup from the five targets where he was in primary coverage. Giving up just 26 yards through the air, he was impressive at recognizing where the ball was going and meeting the receiver there. Outside of a 21-yard reception allowed to TE Will Tye, his other three receptions allowed went for a total of just five yards.”"

Poyer’s play was surprise from a dismantled secondary. This was the Buffalo Bills’ first game in years without the duo of Stephon Gilmore and Ronald Darby. The safety’s play helped elevate those around him on Sunday when battling against the New York Jets’ offense.

Here are the top five Buffalo Bills’ game grades:

S Jordan Poyer, 90.7 overall grade

CB E.J. Gaines, 86.4 overall grade

CB Tre’Davious White, 82.8 overall grade

QB Tyrod Taylor, 82.6 overall grade

DI Kyle Williams, 81.3 overall grade

It is no shock that 4 out of 5 of these players are defensive players. E.J. Gaines who came over from Los Angeles in the Sammy Watkins trade played very well. Week one was some sort of a test run for next week against the Carolina Panthers. We all know that New York’s offense is below average and that the Buffalo defense would thrive in the match-up. Let’s hope this stellar play carries over into next week’s match-up.

Switching over to offense, Tyrod Taylor exceeded expectations Sunday. Fresh off a concussion, Taylor held nothing back, earning a game grade of 82.6. Here is Pro Football Focus’ write-up for Tyrod Taylor:

"“Taylor avoided taking risks and played a reliable game manager role in Buffalo’s win against the Jets. The Bills quarterback’s lone interception came on a dropped pass while he was on target on 17 of his 21 aimed attempts, including on four of his five attempts traveling more than 10 yards in the air.”"

Four of the five highest game grades from the New York Jets came from the defensive side of the football as well. I feel the need to put in here that New York quarterback, Josh McCown, earned a 65.6 game grade for his play Sunday.
