CB Ronald Darby

I truly am excited to see what Ronald Darby can bring to the table this season. Following an impressive rookie season in 2015, Darby fell off a bit last season — granted, pretty much the whole defense did the same thing.

Now on the depth chart as the No. 1 cornerback, since Stephon Gilmore decided to join the New England Patriots this season, Darby will have his best shot at a Pro Bowl selection so far in his young career. Don’t forget, this will be just his third season.

He has received a lot of optimism this offseason, most notably being named to Pro Football Focus’ best under-25 team. Their excerpt read:

"“In 2015, Darby came in and immediately started for the Bills and as a rookie, earned an incredible 86.1 overall grade — the third-highest PFF overall grade ever for a rookie cornerback. While 2016 was certainly a step back, he at least maintained a strong performance defending the run, and was far from alone in regressing in a Bills’ defense that capitulated over the season. Darby’s ability showed that he can play at elite levels from day one, earned him the selection here over his competition.”"

Darby has also made a great first impression on new head coach Sean McDermott, who will likely be the one to take Darby to the next level. McDermott likes what he sees from Darby and for a coach that is known to bring the best out of his defensive back group, I doubt Darby will have another disappointing season.

Time to show out, Darby.
