The Buffalo Bills will begin training camp on July 27th. Returning from a broken leg, Eric Wood is confident he will be 100% ready.

The Buffalo Bills‘ offensive line is looking much stronger this season, which is encouraging knowing that this is a team that has had the No. 1 rushing attack in the NFL over the past two seasons. Getting starting center Eric Wood back from injury will make it even better.

For those that have been under a rock, Eric Wood suffered a broken leg last season in the Bills’ Week 9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. It was the controversial game that occurred right before the team’s bye week.

It was also a very impressive game for Tyrod Taylor, if you remember.

On Thursday, Chris Brown of the Buffalo Bills’ official team website reported that Wood has been healing nicely and although he might not be 100% currently, he hopes to be 100% by the time training camp kicks off. That gives Wood about a month and a half to fully heal.

It’s also encouraging to note that he has only missed one practice so far, which came during the first week of OTA’s. Since then, things have remained optimistic.

Here’s what Eric Wood had to say about his injury:

"“It went great. I missed one day the first week of OTAs and we had planned that if I had any setbacks or got too sore I would take a day off, but I didn’t need a day off the rest of the time,” said Wood. “So I’m encouraged. I definitely should be 100 percent barring anything crazy happening over the next month. So I’m looking forward to it.”"

In the odd chance that he isn’t ready for training camp, it’s pretty clear who will take his reps — Ryan Groy. After filling in admirably last season after Wood went down, he showed enough to have the Buffalo Bills match an offer sheet made by the Rams in free agency.

Having a player like Groy on the roster is clutch, especially since he can play multiple positions along the offensive line. He will look to be one of the primary backups when a player goes down with injury, but will mostly stay as the backup center.

Knowing Eric Wood is progressing well just gets me even more pumped for the 2017 season. There’s a lot of new in Buffalo, but don’t forget that a lot of the players returning were starters last season.

I’m excited to see what Buffalo can do this season.
