Former Buffalo Bills’ running back Mike Gillislee recently talked to the Boston Herald about the difference between the Patriots and Bills.

It was a subtle, respectful jab that was given by Mike Gillislee recently. After making the move from the Buffalo Bills to the New England Patriots, Gillislee has finally spoken out on the difference between teams.

He had a lot to say, raving about his new team and very gently criticizing his former team.

Before I get anyone worked up, let’s look at what he said, according to an article by the Boston Herald:

"“Nothing (negative) about Buffalo. It’s just here, we work hard,” said the running back whom the Patriots signed as a restricted free agent in April. “Each and every day we did that at Buffalo, but here the expectations are way higher. We work a little harder.”"

Obviously, he didn’t really say anything bad about the Buffalo Bills. In fact, it was more of a jab at Rex Ryan and how he ran things in Buffalo. It’s safe to say that there has been a complete culture change in Buffalo.

In fact, from what Gillislee has said so far, returning to the Buffalo Bills would’ve been a good move for him. He raved about the Patriots’ work ethic and how everyone is a leader on the field.

That’s exactly what Sean McDermott is doing in Buffalo.

Here’s more from the article:

"“On this team, everybody that I’ve met, everybody that I see out here (is a leader),” Gillislee said. “It’s just hard just to watch one person. Everybody that you watch is doing the right thing. That’s the great thing about this team.“It leaves you no choice but to get better out here when you’re seeing everybody doing their job up to the capability that they can do it and playing at a high level. It gives you no choice but to play at that same level.”"

It was definitely sad to see Gillislee go this offseason. It sounds like he would’ve been happy in Buffalo, but ultimately that didn’t happen.

He also pointed out how different it is in the weight room. He noted that the same work ethic and competition he saw on the field with the Patriots transitioned into the weight room.

"“It starts in the weight room,” Gillislee said, pointing to strength and conditioning coach Moses Cabrera. “Coach Moses does a great job at preparing us out here. . . . The same expectations (that are) in weight room (are) out here.“From the way we squat, to the way we bench press — everything that we do carries on to the field. . . . You have guys in there lifting 400 pounds and up and guys in there squatting 400 pounds and up. Every day is a competition in the weight room and on the field. That’s what makes this team special.”"

Mike Gillislee wasn’t even the only former Buffalo Bills‘ player to speak about the difference switching between rival teams. Stephon Gilmore also gave his take, although it was much shorter than Gillislee’s input

Here’s what Gilmore had to say:

"“Yes, it’s pretty upbeat,” he said.“That’s how you want it. Everybody expects you to be on your job and make plays and trust each other.”"

The two joined former teammate Chris Hogan in New England, while the Patriots become known as “being Bills collectors,” according to the Boston Herald article title.

Meanwhile, the national media is pegging the Buffalo Bills as the biggest threat to the Patriots in the AFC East, which is encouraging. The Bills shut out the Patriots at Gillette Stadium 16-0 last season — which should make for an exciting Week 16.

Luckily, the Bills will play the Patriots twice in the final five games of the season. Intensity will be high by then and the teams will both be settled in. With a new everything in Buffalo, that should come to our advantage.

Those two games will likely be important between making the playoffs and missing the playoffs. Who knows, it could be the difference between first place and second place in the AFC East.

Add in the Week 15 and 17 games vs. the Dolphins and those last 5 games could really be the difference between first place, second place and third place in the AFC East.

Oh boy.
