After releasing two players, the Buffalo Bills announced the signing of Rod Streater and Wes Saxton.
The Buffalo Bills added WR Rod Streater and TE Wes Saxton to their roster on Wednesday. With their roster already at the maximum 90 players for training camp, that meant the team had to release two players.
To make room for the two new faces, Cyrus Kouandjio and Josh Woodrum were released.
Let’s start with Streater, who will add valuable depth to a receiver group lacking it. Entering his sixth season in the NFL, Streater has had his ups and downs, but can still contribute on a weekly basis.
He first signed with the Oakland Raiders in 2012 as an undrafted free agent and remained with the team for four years. In his first two seasons, he combined for 99 catches, 1,472 yards and 7 TD. He appeared in every game over that span.
Unfortunately, playing time would fall off over the next two seasons and he would only combine for 10 catches, 92 yards and one touchdown. He suffered a fractured foot in 2014, appearing in just 3 games.

Streater spent last season with the 49ers and appeared in 16 games — starting two of them. He finished with 18 catches, 191 yards and 2 touchdowns. Those two TD’s came in Weeks 15 and 16.

During the 49ers loss to the Bills last season, Streater had a 16-yard catch.
Streater was teammates with Andre Holmes from 2013-2015 with the Oakland Raiders. Holmes who signed with the Buffalo Bills earlier this offseason.
Staying healthy will be key to staying on the Bills’ roster for Rod Streater.
As for Wes Saxton, he’s a tight end that was added as a tryout. Now, he is a member of the roster and will fight for an open spot as the Bills’ No. 2 tight end.
He was a productive player at South Alabama and joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He spent last season on the Redskins’ practice squad.
Hes a big body that can act as an H-back, which will fit nicely with new offensive coordinator Rick Dennison. An H-back lines up like a tight end, but is set back from the line of scrimmage. They work well in motion, in the backfield or on the line.
If he can prove productive during camp and workouts, Saxton could find himself on the Bills’ 53-man roster. He will have plenty of competition, including Nick O’Leary, Blake Annen and Logan Thomas, Jason Croom and Keith Towbridge.
The Buffalo Bills added two players that could prove very valuable this season.
