The Buffalo Bills have ended their search for a new general manager, announcing that they’ve hired Brandon Beane.

As expected by many, the Buffalo Bills announced that they hired Brandon Beane as the franchise’s General Manager on Tuesday. Beane will become the 13th General Manager in the teams history.

Beane comes over from Carolina where he served as the Panthers assistant GM for the past two seasons, but he has been with the Panthers since he entered the NFL in 1999. Beane was also interviewed this offseason for a different GM vacancy, before the 49ers hired John Lynch.

McDermott continues to put his stamp on the Buffalo Bills‘ organization. The Pegulas have clearly put their full boat of confidence in Sean McDermott and are bringing in everyone he asks. McDermott has been careful with who he chooses to do business with, now he has added a trusted colleague to work side by side with him.

During free agency and the draft, it seemed clear that McDermott was in control of the roster. Beane being the next GM could certainly change that. Beane is respected around the league and also falls under the high character profile that fits McDermott.

Assuming Beane comes in and takes over the roster on day one, McDermott can finally focus just on the football side of things. Doing both is tough and even tougher for a first time head coach.

Soon after the Buffalo Bills announced the hiring of Beane, Terry Pegula had this to say,:

"“During our search for a new General Manager, Brandon stood out to Kim and I as he embodies the type of leader and type of person we want in our organization. Brandon has excelled in a variety of roles for a Panthers team that has consistently competed at a high-level in this league. We feel his vast understanding and experience in many facets of football operations will be invaluable to our club moving forward. We also believe his vision for the Buffalo Bills combined with his detailed approach will help build a foundation for sustained success. We are pleased to welcome Brandon and his family to Buffalo.”"

This is overall a good choice. McDermott and Beane have worked together for six years in Carolina. Having a coach and GM who are on the same page has been foreign to the Bills for the past 17 years and now is when consistency is needed the most.

According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, the length of Beane’s contract will match McDermott’s five year deal.

The Buffalo Bills will introduce their new GM at their Friday morning press conference at 10:30 AM. The Bills also start their rookie mini camp this weekend followed by OTA workouts.

Hopefully, the Buffalo Bills have found their duo for years to come.
