This group of players includes a few who could be selected by the Buffalo Bills with the number 10 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The NFL Draft is today and the red carpet is rolling out for the best prospects. For the Buffalo Bills, that means whomever they pick at number 10 is going to be there to put on the blue and red cap.
The NFL released a list of people attending the draft at the NFL’s request. The group of players includes Heisman trophy winner DeShaun Watson of Clemson, top receiver prospect Corey Davis of Western Michigan and potential number-one pick Mitchell Trubisky of North Carolina.
Also included are 40-dash record holder John Ross of Washington and LSU’s Leonard Fournette, who’s projected to go in the top 10.
Here’s the full list of players attending:
- Jamal Adams
- Jonathan Allen
- Chidobe Awuzie
- Derek Barnett
- Garett Bolles
- Gareon Conley
- Corey Davis
- Leonard Fournette
- Adoree’ Jackson
- Kevin King
- DeShone Kizer
- Marshon Lattimore
- Malik McDowell
- Takkarist McKinley
- Ryan Ramczyk
- Haason Reddick
- Cam Robinson
- John Ross
- Solomon Thomas
- Mitchell Trubisky
- Deshaun Watson
- Tre’Davious White
The league also invited many college coaches, presumably to look on like proud papas as their players are selected. That means Nick Saban, Urban Meyer and recent national champion Dabo Swinney will all be there as well.
All three men developed college players that became NFL starters and are staples of draft night.
Here’s a full list of the coaches attending the NFL Draft:
- Larry Fedora, North Carolina
- P.J. Fleck, Minnesota
- Butch Jones, Tennessee
- Brian Kelly, Notre Dame
- Urban Meyer, Ohio State
- Jim Mora, UCLA
- Ed Orgeron, LSU
- Chris Petersen, Washington
- Matt Rhule, Baylor
- Nick Saban, Alabama
- David Shaw, Stanford
- Dabo Swinney, Clemson
- Kyle Whittingham, Utah
The list has more defensive players (13) than offensive (9), an indication the NFL probably thinks more teams will pick prospects to shore up their defense. An interesting omission from this list is Alabama tight end O.J. Howard, widely projected to be a top 15 pick.
If his name is called, we’ll presumably see him sitting at home with his family instead.

So, will a future Buffalo Bill be in attendance? Well, the team has a lot of needs and head coach Sean McDermott hasn’t indicated who they will draft. Howard is a popular choice for Buffalo, so if it’s not him, then who else?
Buffalo has glaring holes all over, but the biggest are at wide receiver and cornerback. With that in mind, a player like LSU’s Tre’Davious White or Corey Davis could be the pick. Linebacker is a pressing need as well, so perhaps Temple’s Haason Reddick could be stepping on the stage with the blue cap.
Or the Buffalo Bills could throw a curveball by selecting Trubisky with the 10th overall pick if he’s still there. I think it’s highly unlikely they grab a quarterback this high with more pressing needs, but it could happen.
Does this list mean that all 22 players will go on the first night? Of course not, teams can be unpredictable with their picks. Last year Myles Jack attended the first round, just to watch himself slip into the second before being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
But a high number of them will and one of them is potentially going to Buffalo.
