Buffalo Bills Sending Mixed Messages as NFL Draft Approaches
By Daniel Hahn
It has been rumored that the Buffalo Bills are looking to trade down in the NFL draft.
If you haven’t already seen the tweet that was sent out by Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, here it is:
All 4 of those teams are picking in the top ten and have multiple defensive needs to address — not to mention, the draft is one of the deeper drafts defensively in recent memory. Easy analysis and fairly obvious assumption.
Let me add a rumor that the Bills will select a defensive back somewhere during the 3 days of the draft. In case you need background, the Buffalo Bills have selected a DB every year under Whaley.
Will the Bills trade down? I don’t know. While getting more draft picks has been part of the offseason plan, how far down they are willing to go, and what return they are seeking are key to any trade.
I believe the best option for a trade at 10, is if there is a run on a position group around that pick, that make a team panic a little to jump to 10 to get somebody. I am looking at the Saints, Cardinals and Eagles as teams that may do that. While I love the Browns being at 12, and you never know what Clevleland will do, MoneyBall is about getting more picks, not trading up.

This rumor is very much true. However, don’t put a lot of weight into it until around pick #8 when you see how the draft is going. Right now the most likely thing that’s happening is the Bills and every other team are talking prices to move anywhere in the draft.
The Bills have probably framed out a deal that would allow the Colts to jump from #15 to #10, just in case.
Any media report that talks about teams talking deals is probably accurate. Just don’t believe that planning is the same as executing.
Speaking of planning, the next popular rumor is that the Buffalo Bills are going to draft a Quarterback in the first round.
