The Buffalo Bills have been one of the busiest teams in the NFL with signing free agent after free agent, so let’s go ahead and grade each addition.

The free agency period has slowed down as the NFL begins the transition into draft season. The Buffalo Bills did some solid work signing free agents and staying within their salary cap situation. While they prepare for the draft, BuffaLowDown will go through and grade each free agent addition so far this offseason.

As of right now, the list contains 13 players — that’s not including the 6 players that were re-signed, which we will get to last. All of that brings the Bills’ roster total to 61 players currently. Unless the team trades for more draft picks, Buffalo will have 23 spots to fill  on their 90-man roster with undrafted free agents and veteran free agents.

The top-51 contracts — which count towards the salary cap — give the team slightly over $11 million left to spend. Reserving most of that for drafted rookies, the Buffalo Bills don’t have a ton of room to work with. The team is still expected to gain roughly $4 million since Aaron Williams was designated a post-June 1 cut.

Enough number talk, let’s get a look at these new additions. In each slide, I will preview one of the new additions, give the Buffalo Bills a grade for the signing and give an early projection as to where they will fit on the team’s roster — if they even make it past the final cuts.

For the grades, I will follow a simple key:

A – Excellent signing, will have strong impact in some way.

B – Good signing, mostly for depth.

C – We’ll see how it turns out, likely fighting for roster spot.

We’ll start with my favorite signing of them all.
