Mitch Trubisky – North Carolina

Junior, 6’3, 220lbs

13 starts in 2016: 3,748 yards, 30 TDs, 6 INTs, 68.2% completion

At #10, the Bills may find themselves taking the top QB on their board, much like they did with EJ Manuel. Like in 2013, it would make sense for the Buffalo Bills to trade down prior to selecting a QB. Either way, Trubisky would be a great find in the 1st round.

We put in his stat line that he only had 13 starts in 2016, which makes him a bit of a mystery, because he only started in 2016. The other top QBs in the class will offer more experience, but to me that has shown me more of their flaws than upside.

Drafting a QB is always a big risk, as many don’t work out. Either they are solid in college and it translates (like Dak Prescott) or you take a bit of a risk on a guy with a high upside and you get a hit (Derek Carr). Trubisky is more the Carr route, a guy with all the talent and potential to grow.

Trubisky will offer the size, arm, toughness and mental capacity needed to be a NFL starting QB. The experience will be a huge red flag this whole process. Trubisky offers the most in terms of consistency (albeit in just one year) over the alternatives who have started longer, but revealed more holes.

My issue with drafting him at #10 is, am I excited about Trubisky, or just not excited about Desean Watson, Deshon Kizer, Brad Kaaya, etc? That is mainly why I want to keep Taylor.

Without Taylor, the Buffalo Bills can also sign a free agent QB and draft competition for the future. This competition doesn’t have to be taken at #10, like Trubisky probably will be for the Bills to get him.

Let’s take a look at a couple of those other options.
