Tyrod Taylor has had his ups and downs this season, but has established himself as the best rushing quarterback in the NFL.

B-. . QB. Buffalo Bills. TYROD TAYLOR

  • What I Like: only three interceptions on the year, mobility, throwing ability on the run, ability to make something out of nothing, deep ball is one of the best in the league at times, best rushing quarterback in the league, gives Buffalo the ability to run any type of offense or play, doing what he can with what he’s given, good at keeping the Bills in a game.
  • What I Don’t Like: struggles to control the offense at times, overthrown balls, doesn’t see wide open receivers at times, passes going wide, lack of confidence in the fourth quarter, trouble finishing out a game — especially when Buffalo has a chance to win.
  • 2016 Passing Statistics: 162/268 (60.4%), 1,769 yards, 10 TD, 3 INT, 23 sacks, 87.7 rating
  • 2016 Rushing Statistics: 54 carries, 362 yards, 6.7 average, 4 TD, one fumble lost, 5 rushes 20+ yards
  • 2016 Fantasy Points:

Tyrod Taylor has received a lot of criticism for his play this season, but he doesn’t deserve much of it.

When you consider the fact that his right tackle is having a bad year, his top running back has been injured at times, his top-four wide receivers have all missed time, his left tackle has battled an ankle injury and most recently his starting center went down, you start to realize how difficult it must be to control this offense.

  • Now, that’s never an excuse when you’re talking professional sports, but at the same time it does change how the Bills set up their gameplan. When a team is forced to stray away from playing their normal game, it can throw the whole unit off.

In my opinion, Tyrod Taylor has done an excellent job of transitioning with the offense. Without much help on the receiving end, Taylor has had to adapt to become more explosive on the ground. Not only does he have four rushing touchdowns this season, but he has scored one in each of the Bills’ last three games and is 40 yards away from 400 yards on the year.

He has also done something that will win over any coach and that’s not turning the ball over. With just three interceptions on the year and one fumble lost, he has helped this team become the best team in the league at taking care of the ball — tied with the Minnesota Vikings at 5 giveaways this season.

If Tyrod Taylor can play like he did against the Seattle Seahawks for the rest of the games this season, the Bills might be able to pull off a push for the playoffs. Remember, he’s also still playing for a big contract.

He will most likely re-sign with the team, but he’s going to need to gain our trust when the game is on the line.

Let’s move on to the next report card, LeSean McCoy.
