Bills Fantasy Football Take Aways From First Preseason Game
By Dennis Moody
What about the Bills defense? Did they look draftable in Fantasy Football after the first preseason game?
If you’re thinking about drafting the Bills defense they looked better than last year. The Bills only gave up 19 points and three of the four scoring drives against them were on drives that they committed penalties.
On the one scoring drive that they did not commit a penalty, Sterling Moore failed to make a tackle giving up a 50 plus yard passing touchdown. The penalties were so bad that four of the 13 first downs the Colts got during the game came from times the Bills were penalized.

The Bills defense didn’t get any sacks or interceptions but had three QB hits, four tackles for a loss and eight passes defensed. They got solid pressure on the QB despite their mostly vanilla schemes. They gave up just 274 total yards and a measly 30 of them came on the ground.
Their defense suffered a hit when IK Enemkpali tore his ACL with little time remaining in the first half ending his 2016 season. The Bills are hoping Manny Lawson can be ready for Week 1 or they will be thin at OLB/Edge Rusher. The team waived Enemkpali with an injury designation and signed Kroy Biermann to the roster.
The Bills ended up losing the game by one point due to a failed two-point conversation but it made perfect sense not to continue the game any further and risk injury. I know all us fantasy football team managers can appreciate that mentality but it’s a shame they couldn’t pull out a win.

The defense put in a solid performance overall. Despite the mounting injuries (which will be discussed in our next fantasy football segment) they looked like they deserve consideration to be drafted this year in most ten and twelve team fantasy football leagues.
