This season has become personal for Rob and Rex Ryan. They are out to prove that the Ryan’s still “Billieve” in themselves and can deliver a top notch defense.

Rex Ryan. You have to love the guy, and honestly, even if you hate him, you love to hate him. Between his bravado, seemingly endless supply of confidence, and of course, his media stunts aimed at opponents, Ryan definitely captures the attention of all involved. His most recent display? When he exclaimed:

“We’ve won the off-season.”

What a positive, optimistic, and seemingly arrogant statement. This isn’t anything we haven’t heard before, as Bills fans. Every off-season is riddled with nothing but excitement and a new-found swagger. Every single season is the season to “Billieve”. However, this season? This season it’s all different.

Make no mistake, this year is truly different. This season is unquestionably the season to “Billieve”.

Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News indicated earlier this offseason that Rex Ryan was given an ultimatum coming into his second year as Buffalo’s head coach. Win, or you’re fired. If that isn’t motivating, I don’t know what is. On top of this “deal” offered by Buffalo Bills owner, Terry Pegula, this season already sits a little more on the personal side for Rex, and less on the business side.

During the offseason, Rex hired his twin brother, Rob Ryan, to be a big part of the defense going forward. One thing is for sure with this move, we will definitely see a true Ryan defense this year.

More from BuffaLowDown

The past few seasons have been embarrassing for the Ryan men, which must be tough to swallow, seeing as how they, and their father Buddy Ryan, used to dominate the defensive side of the ball. The Ryan twins expressed back in January, shortly after Rex and Rob joined forces, that this season is personal to them, and to their family. They want to bring honor, and the fear of the Ryan name back into the league.

Though this season is a make or break year for the Ryan twins, and the families legacy as a commanding presence in the NFL, I’m most excited to see the physicality, aggressiveness, and harsh punishment dealt upon the opposing offense, that a true Ryan defense typically shows. I fully expect this season’s showing to be an unprecedented and historical display.

Yes, it’s true, we’re all hearing and feeling the same things as every other off-season. Make no mistake about it, this year is truly different. This season is unquestionably the season for fans to “Billieve”.
