At Alabama, he shared the luxury of playing alongside fellow potential first round draft pick A’Shawn Robinson on the defensive line. The Bills have not invited Robinson in for a visit despite many experts considering him to be the better player out of the two.
Reed is one of the best run-stuffing tackles in this year’s draft. He is really good against the run because he has a strong base and is hard for offensive lineman to push around. On top of having a good base, he also reads running lanes well and that allows him to perform even better against the run. According to NFL.com he “charted no broken tackles or missed tackles for the entire season” which is pretty impressive.
Although he is great at stopping the run, he could use some improvement on rushing the passer. According to NFL.com, he only played in 55% of Alabama’s defensive snaps over his two seasons due to his lack of ability to get after the quarterback. NFL teams will probably sub out Reed on obvious passing downs which hurts his draft stock a bit.
Another thing that could hurt his draft stock is that he was arrested in July 2014 for a DUI. However, outside of that, he doesn’t have any major incidents to report from a character standpoint.

He is versatile enough to play in either a 3-4 system or a 4-3 defensive scheme which is always a plus for Rex Ryan coached teams as Rex likes to mix up the defensive looks to confuse quarterbacks.
Reed will be off the board when the Bills pick at #49 so if they are interested in adding him to the roster they will need to use their first round pick at #19 to select the defensive tackle from Alabama.
