ILB Reggie Ragland Will Visit The Bills

NFL.com reports that Reggie Ragland will visit the Bills for a pre-draft private workout according to an interview he did with College Football 24/7. The other teams Ragland is said to be visiting include the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings. He is still in the process of scheduling workouts with other teams.

The 6’1″, 259 pound inside linebacker from Alabama is projected to go in the first round by most draft experts. We picked him to go to the Miami Dolphins at #13 in our first mock draft.

Ragland lead the Crimson Tide’s No. 2 ranked defense last season with 90 tackles on his way to winning the SEC Defensive Player of the Year Award.

He’s an extremely physical player who is great at stopping the run. He’s not only smart and instinctive, but he also is known to hustle and get dirty just to make a play. He’s the best inside linebacker in the draft.

His biggest weakness in the NFL will be man coverage versus the faster players in the league since he does not have great speed (4.72 time on 40-yard dash). There are also some concerns that due to his physical style of play that his body could wear down quicker than other players who don’t play as rugged of a style.

At Alabama, Ragland was used to playing MLB in a 4-3 defense. The Bills plan to use a 3-4 scheme more often next season so if he is selected by Buffalo he would need to adapt to the new scheme. However, it should not be that big of an issue because he has ideal size for an inside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme in the NFL.

He is projected by many to go in the top 25 so he will not be on the board when Buffalo selects in the second round. If the Buffalo Bills want to draft inside linebacker Reggie Ragland they will need to use their first-round pick to select him at #19 overall.
