Buffalo Bills News: Aaron Williams Injury Update

The latest news on injured Buffalo Bills safety, Aaron Williams

The Buffalo Bills endured a frustrating afternoon on Sunday, with the 40-32 score in reality not reflecting the dominance of the New England Patriots. However, the outcome is of minor relevance, when compared to the injury suffered by Aaron Williams, during the third quarter.

Williams injured his neck, after attempting to stop Julian Edelman scoring on a 22-yard reception from Tom Brady. He remained on the ground for what felt like an eternity – I appreciate the medical staff had to take all necessary precautions – before being strapped to a stretcher and taken away in an ambulance.

At this stage, there is no way of knowing how long the 25-year old will be out of action, although there should be more information after Rex Ryan’s Monday news conference. What we do know, is that he has been released from hospital, after passing all of the necessary tests.

This is obviously an excellent sign, regardless of his uncertain status moving forward. Williams took to Twitter, to thank everyone for their words of support:

In some respects, the strong safeties injury capped off a nightmare performance for him against the Patriots. He was clearly pumped up for the game – ultimately too much.

Williams completely lost the plot during the first half, after conceding his second personal foul penalty. This led to the Bills benching him so that he could cool off, before he became any more of a liability.

Losing the 2011 second round draft pick is a big blow to the Bills. Bacarri Rambo spoke to Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News about his teammate: “It’s going to be a huge loss.

“I don’t know what the deal is right now. It’s very important that we have him.”

For his part, Rambo has no doubt Williams will be okay: “Aaron is the true definition of a warrior.

“I know that injury is not going to hold him back. I know he’ll be back soon – sooner than later.”

Update: Williams was walking around freely at One Bills Drive on Monday. However, he will likely not play next Sunday in Miami.

As per Chris Brown at buffalobills.com, Ryan said: “He’s stiff and sore right now and he’s got (that thing) on his neck. We’ll see how it progresses. Thank goodness that he was cleared so he’s doing okay.”
