Buffalo Bills Circling the Wagons: EJ Manuel, Matt Cassel

More from Buffalo Bills News

Today is the day that we all have been waiting for with the Buffalo Bills throughout the summer, training camp is set to open at St. John Fisher in just a couple of hours.  Players have reported and the doors are set to open to the fans at 9 am for the 10 am opening for training camp.

Here are your daily links for the Buffalo Bills from around the web.

Bills open camp with all eyes on quarterbacks

"When the Buffalo Bills take the field for the first time in 2015 Friday morning, there’s no mistaking where almost everyone in attendance will be focusing their attention.  Right behind center Eric Wood.Fans, as well as local and national media will be squarely focused on the three-way competition at quarterback.  Matt Cassel, EJ Manuel, and Tyrod Taylor will all be vying to be the opening day starter and, according to head coach Rex Ryan, each has a legitimate shot to win the job, and will be given every opportunity to do so.Even players such as Wood are very aware of the situation and understand what lies ahead of them (possibly) the next four weeks.  Appearing on WGR Thursday, Wood said he’s even excited to watch the competition play out."

Russ Brandon is now running the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres

"Replacing Black as President will be current Buffalo Bills Managing Partner and President Russ Brandon. He held that figurehead title in the time between the departure of Marv Levy from that post and late Bills owner Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. electing to give that job to Buddy Nix, but the majority of the team’s personnel decisions in that time frame were made by John Guy, Tom Modrak, and Dick Jauron. “We are grateful to Ted Black for all he has done for the Sabres organization and wish him much success in his future endeavors”.“I would like to thank Terry and Kim for the confidence they have placed in me”, Brandon said in the statement released by the Sabres. He has been a part of the Bills organization since 1997, and became team President in 2013 after being the team’s Chief Executive Officer."

NFL Season Preview: Buffalo Bills

"WR Percy Harvin gives the Bills an additional playmaker with game breaking ability. Harvin can lineup anywhere on the field and has to be accounted for. TE Charles Clay is a reliable weapon for whomever will be the quarterback. RB LeSean McCoy is still the best all-around back in the league with the potential to take it to the house every time he touches the ball."

Full go the expectation for Sammy Watkins

"It’s been a long offseason for Bills receiver Sammy Watkins. Forced to be a spectator for most of the spring practices as he was busy rehabilitating from an offseason procedure, Watkins assured this week that come the first practice he will be participating. Whether he’s full go however, will still be up to the athletic training and medical staff.“I’ll definitely be out there,” said Watkins. “I don’t know what the circumstance will be with the (athletic training) staff and what I’m going to be doing or how limited I’m going to be, but I’m definitely going to be practicing.”"

Training Camp question: Will there be a Gilmore Island?

"This week, Darrelle Revis graced the cover of Sports Illustrated in a re-make of Joe Namath’s 1965 Times Square pose. “Revis Island,” of course, was originated when Rex Ryan was his head coach. At his best, Revis blankets one side of the field. He eliminates your No. 1 wide receiver. He allows a coach like Ryan to send the hounds up front. So as the 30-year-old Revis heads back to New York, Ryan now hopes a new island emerges in Buffalo. In Year 4, the Bills will likely be counting on the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Stephon Gilmore shutting down the opposition’s best wide receivers. The schedule is again full of prolific wideouts – Odell Beckham Jr., A.J. Green, Andre Johnson and Dez Bryant to name a few."
