Are you tired of the playoff talk yet or are you buying the hype?
Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus is buying it.
Earlier this week, Dareus told the Toronto Sun he believes the Bills D-line could be the “best ever.”
To some this may seem like a bold statement, but to be fair the Bills defense excelled in multiple categories this past year, including sacks (1st in the NFL), scoring defense (3rd in the NFL), pass defense (3rd in the NFL), total defense (4th in the NFL) and scoring defense (4th in the NFL).
The only defensive aspect Buffalo struggled with is rushing defense (ranked 11th in the league), but that doesn’t seem to disturb Dareus.
"“It’s so obtainable. All we have to do is continue to do what we want and not what we can. If we do what we want and do everything to head in that direction, why can’t we? Why can’t we?”"
According to AL.com, Mr. Big Stuff is exuding confidence in Rex Ryan’s ability to direct the team.
"“We finally have a coach who will really lay it on the line for us. I mean, Rex will make the tough calls and really put us in the position to win, regardless of whatever the stakes are. And he’s not going to be buddy-buddy. He’s like, ‘You’re a grown man, and I’m going to tell it to you like it is.’"
Meanwhile at the East Aurora Country Club in Buffalo, NFL analyst Ron Jaworski was buying the hype too.
Jaworski, nicknamed Jaws, was interviewed by buffalobills.com at his annual celebrity golf tournament on July 1st, 2015. During the interview, Jaworski, revealed his opinion of the Bills defense this year.
"“I think back to the ’85 Bears and when we think about great defense, we always mention that group. Maybe the Baltimore Ravens in 2000 with that great defense led by Ray Lewis, but I think the ’85 Bears is very similar to what Buffalo could have. Now the front seven is dynamic and if the back end can play like that ’85 Bears team? Wow. Could be very interesting.”"
When asked if the Bills will make the playoffs, Jaworski responded similarly to Coach Rex Ryan.
"“Yes, it’s a playoff team to me. The Buffalo Bills will be a playoff team. There will be great energy coming to Western New York once again.”"
Let’s hope Jaws is right.
