Buffalo Bills Set Record For Season Ticket Sales

Until this year, the most season tickets sold by the Buffalo Bills was in 1992.

1992? Yes, the same year Bill Clinton was elected President of the United States, the same year the movie Aladdin came out, the same year gas was $1.05 and the same year Princess Diana and Prince Charles separated. That’s how long it’s been since Bills fans have purchased over 57,132 season tickets for Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Although the statistic is quite heartbreaking, it’s understandable why Buffalo fans capitalized on purchasing season tickets in 1992. That year the Bills were in their prime and were in the middle of four consecutive SuperBowl trips. Since then, it’s safe to say the Bill’s fan loyalty has declined as they haven’t appeared in the Playoffs at all in the 21st century.

Luckily, for Rex Ryan’s team this year, the Buffalo Bills have broken that record by 368 tickets. For those of you who don’t want to add those numbers up in your head, I’ll help you out: the Bills sold 57,500 tickets for the upcoming 2015 season. It may not sound like much considering Ralph Wilson Stadium seats 71,857 people, but this year’s sales increased by over 10,000 from last year’s sales of 47,482 season tickets.

According to NFL.com, the Buffalo Bills front office is thrilled by these numbers, especially Owner Terry Pegula.

"“Bills Season Ticket Members passionately support this team year after year and are the most loyal fans in the National Football League. We truly thank them for their commitment to this franchise. Like our fans, we are looking forward to a great 2015 season with our Head Coach Rex Ryan, the coaching staff, the players and the entire organization.”"

The Bills are selling individual game tickets rapidly as well. ESPN released a statement today that the only game with individual tickets left is their last home game against the New York Jets on January, 3rd. According to WGR 550, the team is planning to cap sales at 60,000, meaning there’s about 2,500 season tickets up for grabs. As for group tickets, they start going on sale this Friday (June 19th).
