Buffalo Bills: PFT Mock Draft Picking QB

The Buffalo Bills will be on the clock later tonight with the first of their two picks tonight coming in at 50th overall.  With the 50th overall pick, there are a lot of options that they have to draft for depth.

Pro Football Talk put out their mock draft for the second round, a little bit ago.  Out of pure curiosity I went through to see where and who they decided to pick for the Bills as well as everyone else.

I wanted to see who they had the Buffalo Bills picking as well as who they had the Buffalo Bills passing on as well.  It is only a mock draft, but it is interesting to see what the rest of the NFL world believes that Buffalo Bills are in need of.

At number 50, PFT has the Buffalo Bills picking Bryce Petty, QB out of Baylor.  I am not really sure I agree with the pick straight up, and I definitely was against it when I looked a couple of picks later to see a player that would have been still on the board.  I can’t see the Buffalo Bills drafting a QB that high and taking 5 quarterbacks into camp.  With Matt Cassel and Tyrod Taylor being added to the mix, a comment on WGR this morning made sense as to the possible direction, and the reason for bringing on Tyrod Taylor.  He was their drafted quarterback for this year.  As it is, one of the 4 quarterbacks will not make the team and it really looks like it is between Taylor, EJ Manual, and Jeff Tuel as to who will be cut.

As far as that one player that was still available come the 50th pick and went two picks later, and had a eerily similarity to a previous draft that the Bills let a player slide, 1 pick past them, Maxx Williams was picked at 52nd on PFT’s mock draft board.

If Maxx Williams is still there, even with Charles Clay being brought in, the love of tight ends that Greg Roman has and the how he uses them, I can’t see the Buffalo Bills passing on Williams in any form if he is still available at 50th.

Other mentionables, that we have looked at that were drafted after the Bills at 50, were Bendardrick McKinney, Carl Davis, and Jordan Phillips.

If Williams is there, I think Buffalo takes him. Can’t see any other option at that point.
