C.J. Spiller Set To Hit Free Agent Market

The Buffalo Bills have basically shown their card as to who they will look to retain that are listed as being unrestricted free agents.  Of the fantastic 4, Jerry Hughes seems to be the only one that they are actively pursuing although, we may just see one or two more of them back as well come next year.

Brandon Spikes is looking to maintain his role as a starter and Da’Norris Searcy is looking for a bigger payday.  If Spikes is unable to find what he is looking for it has already been said that he is more than welcome back here in Buffalo in a decreased 1-2 down role.

C.J. Spiller is the 4th and final top UFA for the Buffalo Bills and by all accounts, is set and ready to go when March 10th rolls around.

"“To be honest, I’m excited about the opportunity,” said Spiller. “Obviously, you want to stay at a place that you have been there your whole career. But, as both of you guys know, sometimes that doesn’t happen in this business and you have to move on. You thank the organization for what they have done for you and you continue your career somewhere else. I’m looking forward to it. Me and my agent Chad Speck, we have a great game plan set and looking forward to attacking it.”– BuffaloBills.com"

Although, not completely out the door yet, C.J. Spiller has not thrown the fact out of a return in the red, white and blue as well.  He has taken some time to review the possible offense that newly hired offensive coordinator Greg Roman is planning on instilling.

"Anytime an offensive coordinator loves to run the ball, as a running back that’s what you want to do,” he said. “It’ll be a great opportunity if I do happen to go back because I know that both him and Rex [Ryan] want to run the ball; they want to ground and pound. It’ll be an awesome opportunity.”– BuffaloBills.com"

Will we see a C.J. Spiller return? I don’t think so.  With Spiller’s state above, I believe that he is set and ready to find a new home to which he will be welcomed and wanted.  C.J. Spiller is a good running back, but is too inconsistent and does not have the power to run between the tackles.  He is a guy that can take it to the house and is electrifying, but when it comes once every 50 or so times, there has to be a decision on whether or not it is worth the risk, especially since he has been injured in the past, and the effort to keep a possibility on the team.

At this point, I think that C.J. Spiller is out the door and will be running for a new team, come March 10th.
