Rex Ryan was on WGR 550 this morning and if you missed it you can catch it here as well as get some of the highlights.
Rex talked about a wide range of topics to include the Buffalo Bills but also to include the Buffalo Sabres as well and the most recent trade acquisitions. Ryan is a fan of hockey and even though he grew up in Toronto and is still a fan of the Maple Leafs, he is a bigger fan of the Buffalo Sabres and was extremely excited when he was hearing Evander Kane’s name in the news and then hearing that a trade was made for Evander Kane. He is excited for the Sabres, but more importantly he is excited for the Buffalo Bills as well.
He is going all in on this job with the Bills. He is going to be wearing Buffalo Bills gear everyday. One, because he is excited and proud to be a member of this organization, and two it was free gear that he got.
Rex Ryan talked about Ritchie Incognito…
"Ryan on Incognito “He recognizes that he has made some mistakes. He wants to prove that he is not that person now.”Ryan: “The bullying is a thing of the past. I think he’s learned.Ryan: “I never went in thinking I could change (Incognito), the young man has to change himself”Ryan on Incognito: “We feel very good about him moving forward…he recognizes that he’s made some mistakes” – WGR550.com"
Ryan also got on the Stephon Gilmore and feels that this secondary is going to be one of the best. He stated that Gilmore is a guy that teams don’t throw on. He doesn’t get the picks, because teams don’t throw against him. There is something there when other teams are not throwing against your top corner.
"Ryan: “Gilmore is going to be one of the elite corners in this league” – WGR550.com"
Rex Ryan also was asked about the standing situation with Jerry Hughes. Jerry Hughes is one of the bigger named guys on this team and has made an impact. Hughes is up for a contract renewal at this point, but it is still in determination if he will be back. Hughes has stated that he wants to be back and play on this defense and he would even be willing to accept a franchise tag if the two sides can not come to an agreement on the contract portions. When you are the loan defensive lineman that doesn’t make the pro bowl and still have 10 sacks and 20 in the first two years of the team, there needs to be an agreement of terms for both sides. Rex said it best this morning…
