The Richie Incognito Dillemma

I awoke this previous Saturday morning after some Friday night collegiate fun and saw the reports by James Walker

that the Buffalo Bills were bringing embattled ex-Dolphins Guard Ritchie Incognito in for a visit and a physical to sign him. This has me extremely split, as a fan who wants to put the best team on the field I want them to sign the road grader of a Guard because he is a strong player who would also add an attitude to our line that hasn’t been there since the early 90’s. However my moral side says that signing someone who said and did some pretty terrible things to a team mate and a so called friend wonders if his attitude wouldn’t destroy moral in the locker room. Although the Buffalo Bills got rid of one apparent bully who opted out and took 4 million dollars while doing it. I am having a real moral dilemma because after reading all the text between Incognito and Martin the tone of them is not apparent. It could be a sophomoric player and one who did not stand up for himself when things went to far or it could be a malicious attack on the character of a player who is in a vulnerable position being taken advantage of by someone who knew that he was in no position to push back against the onslaught of hate and vitriol that was sent his way. I am a firm believer in second chances and if someone seeks out the treatment they need for a personality disorder and gets it under control (and hopefully signs a very cheap contract) then I am on board with the signing. However, as someone who battled there own demons in this realm I will keep a watchful eye on Incognito as I think the rest of organization should because something specials being built in orchard park and I’d hate to see that ruined by someone who is a cancer within the organization. This is a vexing issue that deserves further conversation so if you have a comment please leave it in the section below.
