Several fantasy football relevant players were in action last night as week 2 of the 2014 preseason kicked off on ESPN. The Jacksonville Jaguars visited the Chicago Bears in what was a surprisingly entertaining preseason matchup. The Bears starting offense looked solid across the board, albeit against what figures to be a bottom half of the league Jaguars defense. Jay Cutler was efficient while leading the Bears on a 10 play, 85 yard drive during the 2nd quarter, which ended with a strike to Brandon Marshall in the back of the end-zone. Chicago running back Matt Forte, who is widely viewed as a top 5 overall fantasy pick this year, finished with a meager -2 yards on 4 rushes, but showed why he is one of the most complete backs in the NFL by adding 3 catches for 22 yards while he was in the game. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville offense was also efficient under both incumbent Chad Henne and rookie Blake Bortles. Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley has already stated that Henne will be the week 1 starter, even with Bortles strong play in the preseason thus far. Newly acquired starting running back Toby Gerhart ran 6 times for 19 yards, and also added 1 reception for 8 yards. Denard Robinson figures to run as Gerhart’s primary backup, and impressed with 34 rushing yards on only 6 carries. Robinson is largely a late round handcuff option at this point, but could prove to be a dynamic contributor were Gerhart to get injured. With that being said, below are my preseason week 2 fantasy football player rankings. I have also indicated where a player rose and fell from last week’s rankings based on what I saw during the week 1 action. Titans WR Kendall Wright sees the biggest jump up (14 spots), after he was underrated on my initial list. Eagles quarterback Nick Foles had the biggest drop (13 spots) after throwing 2 interceptions against the Bears in week1.
