In our first ever Facebook Mock Draft we have completed our first 10 picks so far.
We looked at the first two picks yesterday and you can check those out if you haven’t had the chance.
Here are the picks and reasons why for spots 3-10.
The 3rd pick was done by staff writer Patrick Helper
"With the 3rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, The Jacksonville Jaguars select Khalil Mack OLB University at Buffalo. The Jags have a lot of needs on the offensive side of the football. But, one thing is for sure you cant win a football game if you cant stop the other team from scoring. They will pass on the QB, or WR, and sure up their defense.Mack has been talked about as a possibly being worthy of the #1 pick. Getting him at three give the Jags a 10 year player.Mack would be an immediate force for the Jags, he stands 6’2 1/2″ and weighs over 250 pounds. He also hold the NCAA record for forced fumbles.“A havoc-wreaking rush linebacker with the burst and acceleration to excel as a right defensive end” NFL.com"
The 4th pick was put up by staff writer Chris Whitcomb
"With the 4th pick in the draft, the Cleveland Browns select Johnny Manziel. The Browns need a QB and the rumors about being smitten with Bortles prove to be smoke and white noise. The Browns believe Manziel has the arm, confidence and focus to take them to the next level.Mike Pettine, a man who rose in the NFL with his defense, now gets the man who will define his offense for the next decade"
With the 5th pick there was a trade involving the Raiders and the Ravens. The Raiders gave up the 5th pick and the Ravens gave up their 17th spot along with their 4th in this years draft, and the 2nd in both of the following years, 2015-2016.
The Ravens selected with staff writer Alex Jones making the selection
"The Baltimore Ravens select Taylor Lewan Tackle Michigan University.I was having a huge deliberation between Robinson, Lewan, and Donald. However Lewan is a four year starter at LT, also he is an equally skilled run and pass blocker which the area that Robinson lacks in. Lewan also has that undeniable mean streak in him that is so prevalent across the Ravens organization. Tackle was the biggest need for the Ravens this offseason and we are glad to welcome Taylor Lewan to the organization."
The 6th pick was made by Editor Dennis Amo for the Atlanta Falcons
"With the 6th overall pick, the Atlanta Falcons select, OT Greg Robinson.Greg Robinson is a guy that can come in and start right away and will be a starter for the next 10 to 12 years. With Jadeveon Clowney off the board at 1, there wasn’t a good enough pass rusher to trump Robinson at number 6. Robinson will help to protect Matt Ryan and also bring a lot to the run game."
Trade offers seem to be running wild through BLDs Mock Draft as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been refusing offers in troves. Andrew Kohler, our writer from across the pond, in Ireland, has the 7th pick with
"After declining on potential trade offers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers parade out former QB Parnell Dickinson to announce their pick.“With the seventh pick in the Buffalowdown 2014 Mock NFL draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Blake Bortles, QB, UCF. May he win more games than we did in 1976.”Thank you Parnell. As GM, I am not sold on Mike Glennon as my QB and Josh McNown is a stop gap. Bortles has all the tools to lead us into the future. I cannot believe the Browns passed on him…We will look for someone to throw toward in the second round. We did consider Jake Matthews, but believe Bortles will lead us for years to come and just couldn’t pass him up."
Staff Writer and BLDs Podcast caller has the 8th pick for the Minnesota Vikings with
"With the 8th pick the Minnesota Vikings select…Aaron Donald, DT, PittsburghA team that has been known for it’s offense has pressing needs on defense. After rejecting a trade offer from the Dallas Cowboys, the Minnesota Vikings select Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh. With the instability on defensive line concerning Tommy Kelly, Donald adds a lot of depth. He will help the Vikings defensive line put added pressure on NFL backfields. He will be Zimmer’s new Geno Atkins."
Probably the biggest pick for all of us is the 9th overall pick going to the Bills with Staff Writer Nathan Gerst making the pick of
"With the 9th pick in the 2014 BuffaLowDown Mock Draft, the Buffalo Bills select, Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&MBuffalo could have gone with Eric Ebron to add more mismatches, however, they need to ensure their quarterback is healthy and stays upright. Matthew is just the guy who will help Buffalo’s offensive line go to the next level and hopefully allow EJ to strive in the pocket. Matthew is a physical offensive tackle who has quick hands, can make adjustments on the fly and has great footwork. He is an outstanding leader, has no injury history, and is a film junkie."
The Detroit Lions round out the top 10 and Staff Writer John Starba selects
"With the 10th pick of the 2014 Buffalowdown mock draft the Detroit lions select: Mike Evans WR from Texas A&M.This selection continues to grow this electric offense. Stafford, Johnson, Bush and now Evans will definitely be something to watch this season."
