Ludwig-USA TODAY SportsThe Buffalo Bills have had a number of players that have played for them over the years. Over those years they have had 12 players that have worn the number 5 while they have playing for them.

Of the players that have worn the number 5 for the Bills, there have been 8 placekickers, 1 punter, and 3 QBs.

George Jakowenko was the first Bill to wear the number 5. Jakowenko played for only 2 seasons. The first was for the Raiders in 1974 and the second was for the Bills in 1976.

Carson Long was the next to wear the number. He played for the Bills in 1977 and that was his only season as a kicker.

Nick Mike-Mayer was the third player to wear #5 for the Bills. He was drafted in 1973 by the Atlanta Falcons. He played for the Bills from 1979 to 1982.

Fred Steinfort is the next player in line to wear number 5. Fred came into the league in 1976 with the Oakland Raiders. He finished his career in 1983 where he played for both the Bills and the Patriots.

#5 to wear #5 is QB Vince Ferragamo. Ferragamo played for 3 NFL Teams and 1 CFL team during his 9 year career. He came to Buffalo for the 1985 season and finished his career in Green Bay in 1986.

Rick Partridge was the first punter to wear #5 and the 6th player in Bills history. Rick played for 3 seasons in the NFL and finished in Buffalo in 1987. He also played in 1979 for the Saints and 1980 for the Chargers.

Moving on to Kerry Brady. Brady was a kicker for the Bills in 1989 but started his three year career in 1987 with the Cowboys.

Brad Daluiso is number 7 on our list. Daluiso played for the Bills in 1991, the year he came into the league, but was drafted by the Falcons. He did appear in the Super Bowl that year against the Giants.

A couple years pass before another #5 is seen in a Bills uniform. It comes in 1998 with kicker Cole Ford. He was draft by the Raiders in 1995 and stayed with them through the 97 season when he came to the Bills.

Travis Brown is our 2nd QB to wear the 5 for the Bills and our 10th overall player. Brown was an undrafted free agent that was signed by the Seattle Seahawks in 2000. He came to the Bills via trade in 2001 and played until 2003. Brown came in for an AVP in 2001 where he saw his most action. He also was brought in to relieve an ineffective Bledsoe in 2003 against the Dolphins and again the next week for Bledsoe against the Patriots. Brown was unable to win any of those games. He finished his career in 2005 with the Indianapolis Colts.

Number 11 on our list of 12 to wear the number 5 is QB Trent Edwards. Edwards was draft by the Bills in 2007 and stayed with them until being released in 2010 after being ineffective and losing the starting job to Ryan Fitzpatrick. Edwards was signed to a full contact on January 2nd of this year and is currently on the Raiders roster. He holds a career rating of 75.5%.

Our final #5 player is 6th round draft pick from the 2013 draft, Dustin Hopkins. Hopkins never saw action last year. After being named the starter, the Buffalo Bills released longtime kicker Rian Lindell. It was noticed shortly after that Hopkins had a groin injury. The Bills signed Dan Carpenter as the kicker. As a slow recovery took place, the Bills placed Hopkins on the IR list after week 5. Hopkins is still part of the Bills and Carpenter was just re-signed by the Bills. It looks as if there will be a kickers competition come training camp.
