Start Buffalo Bills defense this week in fantasy football but leave the Jaguars on the bench.

The Bills defense is currently tied for sixth best in standard yahoo scoring leagues despite their struggles at times this season. For the most part, Rex Ryan’s defense has been good but when they have been bad they have been really bad.

The defense has played six good games and four terrible games. The games that they played poorly in were against the Jets, Dolphins, Seahawks and the Patriots the second time. In those games, they gave up an average of over 34 points per game. In the other six games this season they average just 13 points allowed.

Buffalo’s defense should be able to have a big game against Jacksonville. The Jaguars 22 turnovers are the most in the league. They are just 21st in yards allowed per game and 27th in average points scored per game. It’s a favorable matchup for a Bills defense that tackled well last week which was something they were struggling with recently.

Jacksonville’s defense is not one to consider in fantasy football no matter who their opponent is. They are the second worst in points per game in standard yahoo leagues. They have the least takeaways in the league with just seven total. Their 19 total sacks is in the bottom third of the league and is 12 less than Buffalo’s league leading total of 32.

They have a decent secondary which is fifth best in the league in passing yards allowed but they struggle against the run where they are 22nd best in the league. With their losing record of 2-8, teams have been able to run out the end of games against them while they try to come back. That has led to the disparity in passing yards per game compared to rushing yards but that doesn’t take away from the fact that they Jaguars still have a better secondary than front seven.

This week the fantasy advice for defenses is pretty clear cut. The Bills defense is a must start this week while the Jaguars defense remains a never – ever start – ever, defense.
