Buffalo Bills Lose Second Game in a Row

The Buffalo Bills lost their second game in a row in a crushing defeat to the New England Patriots.

The Bills were coming off a disappointing loss to Miami last week. This week they started what is arguably the toughest stretch of their schedule against the Patriots followed by the Seahawks and Bengals. Coming into this game the Bills were missing  a number of players due to injury, including Sammy Watkins, LeSean McCoy and Marquise Goodwin. They did have Marcell Dareus back on defense to help and he played a pretty good game.

Buffalo was able to score first on a 23-yard field goal to take a 3-0 lead. The Patriots answered back with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Danny Amendola to take a 7-3 lead. The Patriots scored again on a 53-yard pass to former Buffalo Bill Chris Hogan take a 14-3 lead to end the first quarter.

The Bills offense seemed to struggle in the second quarter. With a lack of playmakers, they were unable to move the ball much. However, late in the half, they were able to score on a touchdown run by Mike Gillislee to make the score 14-10. The Patriots answered back with a 53-yard touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski to take a 21-10 lead. After a Bills missed field goal with 32 seconds left in the half, Tom Brady led the Patriots down the field ending in a 51-yard field goal to go up 24-10 at the half.

The Patriots started the second half with a huge kickoff return deep into Bills territory. That led to a 12-yard touchdown pass to Julian Edelman. With that score, they went up 31-10. Buffalo answered back with a 26-yard touchdown run by Tyrod Taylor to make the score 31-17. The Patriots answered back with a rushing touchdown by LeGarette Blount to make the score 38-17.

The Patriots who’ve had no trouble moving the ball all day drove down the field and scored on a 32-yard field goal to go up 41-17. In garbage time the Bills were able to drive the ball down the field with EJ Manuel and got rookie Jonathan Williams his first career touchdown on a one-yard run. They would convert the two-point conversation to make the final score 41- 25 Patriots over Bills.

The Bills had no answer today. The Patriots were able to score at will and the Bills offense was not able to do much. Buffalo will need LeSean McCoy back if they are going to be competitive against the top teams in the league. They still have time to right the ship but it will be difficult over the next few weeks.
