Could the Buffalo Bills have the top fantasy defense

The Buffalo Bills have had one strength the past couple of season, and that has been their defense.  Even with different defensive coordinators each of the past 2 seasons, they have been able to be a top defensive producer in the fantasy realm.

In 2013, the Buffalo Bills defense had Mike Pettine as their defensive coordinator, with a similar defensive scheme that Rex Ryan and Dennis Thurman and bringing this year, the Buffalo Bills finished 8th overall with 145.00 points through Yahoo Sports fantasy calculations.  Stats for that year included 57 sacks, 23 interceptions, 7 fumble receptions and 3 touchdowns.

Carolina, who finished 3rd that year with 195.00 point was the only team to have more sacks than the 2013 Buffalo Bills.  The Kansas City Chiefs finished first with 207.00 points.  The Chiefs had 47 sacks, 21 interceptions, 15 fumble recoveries, 7 touchdowns and 4 touchdowns from returns.

In 2014, the Buffalo Bills finished 2nd in defensive fantasy points, with only Philadelphia finishing ahead of them by 14.00 points; 175.00 to 189.00.  Although the Bills finished with 3 less sacks that the previous year, 54 and 4 less interceptions, 19, they did improve on the fumble recoveries, 11, along with adding blocked kicks and returns for touchdowns, which were non existent in 2013 to the tune of 3 and 2 respectively.  They also had 2 defensive touchdowns as well.  With some of the added numbers they moved up 6 spots in the defensive rankings.

Is 2015, the year with Rex Ryan and Dennis Thurman at the helm, going to be the year that the Buffalo Bills have the top fantasy defense in the league?  It is quite possible.

Rex Ryan’s defense focuses on having strong cornerbacks to hold their own and allow the rest of the defense to cause chaos throughout the rest of the field.  With Stephon Gilmore, Corey Graham, Aaron Williams, Leodis McKelvin, and the new addition of Ronald Darby, not to forget to mention Duke Williams and Nickell Robey as well, the Buffalo Bills have a solid defensive backfield that should be able to hold their own and allow that front 7 and even more so the front 4 of Mario Williams, Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams, and Jerry Hughes to run will and cause havoc up front to create those turnovers for the DBs as well as the DBs creating the coverage sacks for the front 7.

With the defense that the Buffalo Bills have and the scheme that the coaching staff is looking at running, along with a not so stagnant offense with the additions of LeSean McCoy, Percy Harvin and Charles Clay, this Buffalo Bills defense could easily be the top defense in the fantasy world as well as in the NFL.  As far as fantasy goes though, it is not a long shot to say that they will have over 200 points at the end of the year.

I have a feeling that in most leagues, especially those in the WNY area, will have Buffalo Bills defenses coming off the board in early rounds.
