Buffalo Bills Sign FB John Conner

The Buffalo Bills are set at the roster max of 90 players, but that seems to be only a number to them, and has not stopped them from adding to it.  The Buffalo Bills, earlier today signed FB John Conner, a 5 year veteran, that is familiar with coach Rex Ryan as he was with the New York Jets from 2010-2012 and then left for short stints with the Bengals and the Giants and returned to New York and Rex Ryan last year.

It seems as though, Doug Whaley, General Manager, is looking to make the roster the most competitive he can.  With the addition of John Conner, the Buffalo Bills did have to release someone, and that someone was FB Corey Knox.

"A bruising fullback with special teams abilities, Conner (5-11, 247) is seen as quality competition for the likes of fullbacks Jerome Felton, who is already on the Buffalo roster. He is also likely to be another valuable addition for the Bills ever growing list of quality special teams players.Conner was given the nickname ‘The Terminator’ by Rex Ryan during his first stint with the Jets at the beginning of his career. The Kentucky product has 20 career rushes for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He posted his first career receiving touchdown last season. – Boxscore.com"

Seeing what Doug Whaley has done in his short time as the Buffalo Bills GM, I have full confidence that this will not be the only move that he will make this offseason as far as roster competitions go.

Also, the addition comes after the deadline for the free agents to count towards the conditional picks that will be awarded next year based on free agent additions and losses.

Does the former Jets fullback beat out the former Vikings fullback, of which both are very similar players, we have another position competition on our hands.
