Buffalo Bills Acquiring Evan Mathis Still Possible

With a team that is making its move on a publicity stunt for media attention by signing Tim Tebow to a contract, when a couple of years ago, Chip Kelly stated that the Eagles were not a Tim Tebow type of team, they have other things to step back and address rather than try to down play some of the other moves that Kelly has gone on to do.

More from Bills Rumors

Evan Mathis, the second ranked guard in all of the NFL, has stated that he will not report to the Eagles volunteer camps.  Last year, he was the talk of the town when he was again in the midst of trade rumors and failed to show up for voluntary workouts.  Yes, I know that they are voluntary but still there has to be some thought that he is not happy at this point with the Eagles.

Chip Kelly has come out and said that they may look to cut Mathis is they are unable to get a trade worked out with another team for his services.

Evan Mathis, was reportedly, looking for a new contract last year.  He still have 2 years left on his contract and he is set to make 5.5 million this year and 6 million next year.  If he is looking for a new contract, I don’t know if he is going to be getting that contract from the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Buffalo Bills seem to have a decent relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles and Chip Kelly in making a player for player trade when the two teams swapped LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso.  It has also been reported that Chip Kelly was originally looking for draft picks for LeSean McCoy, but the Bills were able to limit the trade to strictly player for player.

If the Eagles cut Evan Mathis, the Buffalo Bills would probably not be able to land him strictly in a bidding war within free agency. If the Buffalo Bills traded for him, there might be a possibility of a restructuring and providing him a long term contract as they did with his former teammate LeSean McCoy.  Having Mathis back blocking for Shady might not be a bad thing, especially seeing as the Buffalo Bills need another offensive lineman.

Evan Mathis for the Bills second round pick (50) and Kraig Urbik?  Does Urbik carry enough weight to get that trade done? Probably not, but it could be a starting point.
