  • We start of, not in the 1960s but in the mid 1970s.  We didn’t see a number 29 until the appearance of Don Calhoun, who played for the Bills for 2 years and was traded to the New England Patriots during his second year.  Don played in 20 games for the Bills and started in 1 of them.

During the 1976 to 1983 seasons, the Buffalo Bills had Mario Clark on the field with the number 29.  Clark was with the Buffalo Bills for 8 seasons and started 113 of 115 games played.  During his time he had 25 interceptions with return yards of 438 off those interceptions.

During the 1984 season, the Buffalo Bills had two players that wore the number 29.  John Mistler was on the Buffalo Bills roster for a total of 3 games but did not see the field for any of them.  Joey Smith was the other player for the Bills to wear number 29 but didn’t see the field either.

5 years with the Buffalo Bills from 1985-1989, Derrick Burroughs wore the number 29.  During his tenure with Buffalo, Derrick started 41 of 58 games played in and had 6 interceptions for 67 total yards.

We have to wait a couple of years before we see the next number 29 on the field and this one only lasted for a year as well, but we come head first into 1996 where we find Jason Bratton wearing number 29 for the Bills.  In 2 games for the Bills, Jason had 4 attempts for a total of 8 yards.

For three years in Buffalo, Keion Carpenter was seen wearing number 29; 1999-2001.  During his time in Buffalo, Keion had 5 interceptions for 63 yards in 22 games started out of 38 games played.

Jason Bostic was the next one year wonder for the number 29 and the Buffalo Bills, seen during the 2002 season.  Bostic played in 14 games for the Bills during the 2002 season and came away with 18 tackles.

Eric King was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 5th round of the 2005 draft.  He played for one season with the Bills and started 1 game but played in all 16.  He came away with 27 tackles on the season.

2012 is the next time we see a number 29 on the Buffalo Bills roster and there were two different ones.  Crezdon Butler was the first 29 for the 2012 season and played in 6 games for the Bills amassing 1 tackle and 1 forced fumble.  Johnny White returned to the Bills in the second part of the 2012 season to take on his second stint with the Bills and wear number 29.  He wore number 20 during the 2011 season.  White played in 3 games and had 8 carries for 34 yards.

Ross Cockrell is the most current Bills player to be wearing the number 29.  He was part of the 2014 roster and played in 7 games.  During the 7 games, Cockrell came away with 1 tackle.
