Last offseason was sure one to remember with the Bills aggressively and successfully obtaining a top tier free agent in Mario Williams but what about Mark Anderson? Anderson seen as a 2nd tier player is what fans in Buffalo are used to them pursuing. For this team to get both of these guys it was definitely a change.

Anderson a former 5th round selection was taken in the 2006 draft by Chicago. He fit in pretty well with the Bears and produced from day one. In his 4 plus years with the club he put up 21.5 sacks and specialized in being a third-down pass rusher. During his time with the Bears he obtained playoff experience and played well. Also he was named Defensive player of month in October 2006. He was released on October 5th 2010.

He then signed on with the Texans to finish out the 2010 season. Anderson played a total of 11 games with Houston and had 4 sacks and 24 tackles.

When the 2011 season came around he jumped on board with the Patriots. Playing in all 16 games he had a pretty successfully season. During the season he notched his second 10 + sack season. He also got more postseason play as he started two of the Patriots 3 games and recorded 2.5 sacks and 10 tackles.

Once Anderson signed with the Bills in 2012 free agency I don’t think many people took that much notice as everyone was still in shock that their team for once landed the number one free agent. I remember when I heard about the signing I thought it would be good and then started to look a little more into his past. From what you can see above he does have the stats that teams and the fans like to see as well as playoff experience. With that said I was wondering why he has been bouncing around teams after leaving Chicago? Is he a problem in the locker room? There has to be something because he has played with some pretty good teams as of late and just moved on to the next. I hope he works out with the Bills as he enters his 2nd season and which hopes to be a full season as his first was cut short due to injury. Does another injury or bad season have the Bills wondering about the signing?  With a 4million dollar + cap hit over the next three seasons decisions will have to be made.  Time will tell.
