Would you ever trade CJ Spiller?

Let’s face it the quarterback in the NFL is the most important position on the field. The Bills have not had a quality player there in some time. So I was thinking that if we don’t draft high enough, there could be other means of obtaining a pick or acquiring a player.

The first thing that comes to mind is Buffalo’s best all-around player CJ Spiller. When he was drafted there were many questions as to why he was because of where he plays on the field. The fans were told he was the best player on the board and that’s why he was taken. With the Bills having two other running backs capable of carrying the load there wasn’t room for Spiller. That being said the Bills moved on with Spiller and since that draft the running backs carrying the load have moved on to different teams.

Nobody really got to see what Spiller could do until last season when Fred Jackson went down with an injury. Different reports came out that had people saying he was small and had a hard time picking up blocks. Others said he wasn’t going to be a back that could carry it 25-30 times a game. Like I said previously last season he got his chance and showed he could be that back. His vision, cut back runs and speed are just some of the great qualities he possesses.

This season he got even more of a chance to prove himself and boy did he. His explosiveness showed greatly as he had phenomenal runs along with catches from Fitz. One thing that did hold him back was the coach. Basically never getting more than 20 carries, and always sharing time with Jackson when he has healthy. Just to think what could have been if the coach went with the hot hand most of the season? As we wait for next season to come with a new head coach fans will be anxious to see how he is used.

Back to question of ever trading Spiller would you? I think I would if it would guarantee me a franchise quarterback. Running backs are a dime a dozen but not many come out like Spiller. I’m not saying this because I want to see him gone but rather wondering if anyone feels like me in the way that this team needs a quarterback and should be willing to do anything in order to get it.
