Possible Solution 2: Eliminate Youth Tackle Football

Every time I see a video like this, I cringe:

Why in the world are kids that age playing full-pads tackle football?

The kids in the video are in the best possible situation: nice field, good equipment…and it’s still insanely dangerous. Granted, kids that are aren’t really able to pop one another. But you’re still getting thrown to the ground. You’re still taking hits. And in less well-off areas, you probably have equipment (especially helmets) that doesn’t fit right. There’s also the risk of coaches that don’t teach proper tackling.

Is there any reason kids can’t play flag football or even touch football until they at least approach middle school?

Believe me, if there is a big lawsuit that brings down football, it’s not going to come from the NFL. It’s going to be a high school or a youth league getting sued into bankruptcy that starts the dominoes.
