Three offensive players who need to shine for the Bills in Week 13
Coming off of a much needed bye week, the Buffalo Bills face the injured San Francisco 49ers at home this week. The Bills should be getting some of their injured players back for the final stretch of the season, providing some big matchups for this week’s game. Their opponent, the 49ers, are coming off a game where they didn’t have quarterback Brock Purdy, left tackle Trent Williams, or pass rusher Nick Bosa and got whooped by the Green Bay Packers. The Bills offense has been tremendous all season, and it’ll need to remain that way this week. Who are some offensive players who need to shine for the Bills to win?
Bills offensive tackles
Buffalo will presumably have right tackle Spencer Brown back in the lineup this week as they face star Nick Bosa and old friend Leonard Floyd. Combined, that duo has sacked the quarterback a total of 13.5 times. Brown has given up one sack and Dion Dawkins has allowed three sacks on the season, according to PFF. Keeping Josh Allen upright is crucial to the success of this offense, and this group has done a great job of that up to this point. This will be another test of how ready this unit is for the playoffs.
Wide receiver Amari Cooper
Easy enough, right? An NFL team needs to get their star receiver involved. Who hasn’t said that before? Well, let’s break it down a little more than that. The Bills passing attack saw an uptick since acquiring Cooper in October. He’s totaled 124 yards and one touchdown in that time and has taken some of the attention away from guys like Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir. Going up against the 8th-ranked passing defense, according to Fox Sports, the Bills need everything to be going their way, and that starts with getting their newest receiver involved early in the game.
Running back Ray Davis
It goes without saying the offense is better when James Cook is playing at an elite level. However, there are still games when he just doesn’t have it and the run game suffers. The Bills need to rely on someone other than Josh Allen’s legs when it gets to that point. Who better than their rookie draft pick who’s shown flashes of explosiveness? During the season, Davis has totaled 279 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with 149 receiving yards and one touchdown. Getting the ball in Davis’ hands needs to be a focal point moving forward as they let their pass catchers heal up.
